La moneta fittizia è la valuta usata nelle opere di finzione. Può essere usato in mondi alternativi, epoche o realtà. L’uso dei “crediti” è particolarmente comune nelle ambientazioni futuristiche, tanto che Sam Humphries lo ha indicato come un cliché: “in qualsiasi film di fantascienza, ovunque nella galassia, la moneta è chiamata ‘crediti’.I crediti sono spesso considerati come una forma di moneta elettronica.
